Rotterdam, 27th October 2023 - HousingAnywhere, Europe's leading mid-to-long term rental platform, has announced a significant milestone by securing €8 million in venture debt with leading global bank BNP Paribas. This partnership marks the beginning of a collaborative journey aimed at revolutionizing the real estate industry through innovative technology solutions, and fulfilling HousingAnywhere's mission to enable more people to find a new home where and how they want in the world. The capital injection will play a pivotal role in accelerating HousingAnywhere's ongoing growth strategy, as it will facilitate strategic acquisitions, fuel product development initiatives, and support the expansion of its market presence.
Djordy Seelmann, CEO of HousingAnywhere, expressed his enthusiasm following the announcement:
"This agreement is just the first step in our partnership with BNP Paribas, which fully supports our vision to set a new standard in the rental industry. Our commitment to growth includes expanding our market reach and enhancing our cutting-edge technology solutions to meet evolving rental needs. With this capital infusion, we not only maintain our position as industry leaders but also expedite our mission to empower more people to find their ideal homes wherever they want in the world”.
Christopher Kramme, Head of BNP Paribas Growth Solutions, which provides data-driven debt capital solutions to leading innovative companies added, “HousingAnywhere has demonstrated its ability to build and sustain a particularly compelling marketplace, despite a challenging environment these past years”. CJ Welkzijn and Louis-Marie Angevin, working with Innovative Clients for BNP Paribas Netherlands, added, “Here in The Netherlands, BNP Paribas remains committed to supporting the innovation economy by giving access to our global platform, including through the development of new capabilities like Venture Loan or data driven RCF.”
With Kamernet and Studapart under its umbrella, HousingAnywhere serves more than 30 million tenants annually, primarily students and young professionals, in their quest for suitable housing. Since its foundation in 2014, HousingAnywhere has consistently achieved remarkable growth, securing crucial funding and acquiring market leaders in key countries, reinforcing its position as the leading European rental platform.
This latest agreement follows the majority share acquisition of Studapart in February 2022, closely following a substantial 24M€ Series C funding round just a year prior, aimed at acquiring the Dutch player Kamernet. Prior to these milestones, HousingAnywhere successfully acquired Stanzazoo in Italy, Rentmate in Iceland, and Studenten WG in Germany, establishing a strong presence across Europe.
This agreement with BNP Paribas builds upon a series of recent achievements in HousingAnywhere’s journey. Earlier this year, the platform marked a significant milestone by expanding into new cities across the United States and the United Kingdom, enlarging its footprint to encompass 125 cities across Europe and the US. Additionally, HousingAnywhere continues to foster operational excellence in a team of 340 people, as exemplified by the formation of its C-Suite earlier this year.
HousingAnywhere is Europe’s largest mid-to-long-term rental platform. With Kamernet and Studapart under its umbrella, the company represents three fast-growing brands with over 30 million yearly unique visitors combined, 160,000+ properties available for rent and 100,000+ tenants finding their new homes in Europe and the US, based on the 2022 performance. HousingAnywhere serves young professionals and students, primarily aged between 18 and 35, connecting them with accommodation providers ranging from private real estate owners to large-scale property managers. Through its advanced platform, tenants typically book longer stays outside of their country of origin and rent accommodation for 3 to 12 months. Headquartered in Rotterdam, HousingAnywhere operates in most European cities and recently expanded to key cities in the US, establishing a presence in over 125 cities. The technology scale-up employs 340 professionals globally, with offices in Rotterdam and Paris.
